GOD, SPIRITS, MONSTERS AND MEN: ‘BETWEEN THE DARKNESS’ LANDS DIGITAL RELEASE AUGUST 20TH

BETWEEN THE DARKNESS (COME, SAID THE NIGHT) // DARKCOAST
“It’s dark, there’s heavy breathing and our teenage protagonist wakes up from sleep while being full of fear & shock. That’s how the film starts and the series of surprises and shocking revelations never seem to stop,” wrote Everything Horror Podcast.

Los Angeles, CA – August 2, 2019 – The twisted horror/thriller, ‘BETWEEN THE DARKNESS’ (aka ‘Come, Said the Night’), will arrive on digital streaming platforms next month.

Writer-Director Andres Rovira’s (No Stranger Pilgrims, The Projectionist) first feature film, BETWEEN THE DARKNESS (aka Come, Said the Night), is a coming-of-age horror/thriller about a young female grappling with her sexuality and repression, which is accompanied by a terrifying monster that could end her childhood forever.

“[Rovira’s] subtle visuals and dialogue tend to have the audience questioning the line between reality and fiction, giving this film a surreal and fascinating allure,” highlighted Late to the Game.

Featuring Once Upon A Time in Hollywood stars Lew Temple (The Walking Dead) and 21st century scream-queen Danielle Harris (Halloween), BETWEEN THE DARKNESS lead stems from up-and-coming talent, Nicole Moorea Sherman (The Haunted House). The coming-of-age fright recently world premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival in January 2019, following the film’s Southern California premiere at Dances With Films in June.

“This is a must watch horror movie because of the uniqueness of the subject explored as well as the message about raising children. With the stellar performances by the cast, beautiful visuals and eerie music, this is a treat for any horror fan looking for something unique, surprising and innovative rather than the usual clones of horror movies we see in the mainstream cinema,” wrote Everything Horror Podcast.

BEFORE THE DARKNESS follows 13-year-old Sprout Grady (Nicole Moorea Sherman) and her family to their secluded “Sanctuary” in the woods, on the anniversary of her sister Magda’s (Daniela Leon) death. Her father, Roy (Lew Temple), deeply believes in the power of mythological gods, choosing to home school Sprout and her younger brother, Percy (Tate Birchmore), protecting them from “The Otherness” – the horrors he believes reside within modern humanity. Troubles first begin when outsiders – a widowed park ranger, Stella Woodhouse (Danielle Harris), and her handsome son, Max (Max Page) – enter the Gradys’ lives, causing strange and terrifying events. Simultaneously, Sprout begins to battle a monster-laced sleep paralysis and becomes haunted by a lurking Gorgon monster. Soon, Sprout will uncover the mysteries surrounding her visions and dark family secrets, rocking the core of everything she once thought she knew.

“The film is beautifully shot, the characters all have different personalities,” wrote Horror-Fix, adding, “The ending of the film is interesting and satisfying. This film is worth a look.”

DarkCoast will release BETWEEN THE DARKNESS onto various digital streaming platforms beginning August 20th (Amazon, iTunes, inDemand, DIRECTV, Vudu, FANDANGO, Vimeo on Demand, AT&T, Google Play, Sling/Dish).

Alongside Harris (Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead), Temple (The Walking Dead) and Moorea Sherman (Little People), BETWEEN THE DARKNESS features notable performances from Tate Birchmore (Peppermint), Daniela Leon (Atypical) and Max Page (Prime Suspect, The Young and the Restless).
