With the release of his first single, Latin singer Durant is making a name for himself as a singer-songwriter in the United States.
His single Mala Influencia quickly surpassed a million streams on Spotify and subsequent launches followed with similar success for this popular singer, who knew as a young child that he wanted to dedicate his life to music.
“I was born with music in my blood, and wrote my first song at age 7,” he said. “From then on, I devoted myself to composing obsessively, until at age 11 I decided to form my first musical group with two friends from school.”
He was with that group, called La Sensación, for nearly six years. The experience provided him the musical and personal growth he needed to take his career to the next level as a solo artist and composer.
When performing with La Sensación, Durant attracted the attention of music manager Steven Campos, who suggested that the two of them travel to Miami to launch Durant’s career in the United States.
Success did not happen overnight, but then again it rarely does. The pair has put in a lot of hard work over the past three years, resulting in a greater expansion of Durant’s musical knowledge and talent than he ever thought possible. “Arriving to a new country with a new market and culture, having to start from zero when not many people know you… to now be here? Wow it is just something that very few people have the opportunity to experience,” he said. “Everything we have done has been with our own hands from scratch, failing and trying again until we achieve every small goal we set ourselves,” said Durant.
Their hard work is paying off. In addition to reaching a million streams with Mala Influencia, Durant has more than 300,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Each of his subsequent new releases has followed in the same successful fashion, including A Todas Contigo, Atea, De Lejos and Que Facil.
“This fills me with gratitude to the public and my team and motivates me to continue working to give them my best,” he said.
