Comedian & Author Katie Barbaro Releases Debut Book "Fed Up: An Illustrated Guide to Food Freedom" To Share How She Overcame Her Eating Disorder
Through a series of comedic cartoons and intimate handwritten accounts, Katie divulges the details of her eating disorder recovery in a delightfully approachable way. She wants to inspire others with eating disorders and hopes her new book will give others a ray of hope and fun-filled way of achieving recovery.

Park City, UT – Oct 11th, 2021 – Comedian and author Katie Barbaro announces the release of her debut book Fed Up: An Illustrated Guide to Food Freedom. In her new book, she goes into detail about how she suffered from Bulimia, as well as the steps she took to achieve recovery. As a trained improviser and occupational therapist, Katie blends her sense of humor, love for storytelling, and desire to help people live meaningful lives to create this illustrated memoir of her experience of compulsive dieting, bulimia, and the messy road of recovery.

Katie’s intention is not only to process through her own experience of healing her relationship with food but to spread awareness and invite more people to break through the taboos surrounding the discussion of eating disorders and mental health issues. Many people are ashamed of experiencing an eating disorder and because of this, deny themselves the proper treatment they deserve. Silence can be deafening, and in this sense, it is necessary to build awareness as the first step to helping others with similar conditions.

During a recent interview, Katie was quoted saying, “My greatest hope is that my new book helps to de-stigmatize eating disorders, dismantle diet culture, and inspire readers. In the midst of my disorder, I felt hopeless and downright depressed. It was a long road, but I was able to get out of it, recover, and now I am able to enjoy food and life again. I wrote this book with the sole purpose of helping others by sharing my experiences, in a fun-filled way.”

Fed Up has an Intuitive Eating, Health at Every Size, Anti-Diet lens and covers Katie’s experience in a twelve-step anonymous program, working with a life coach, and finding recovery through creativity and spirituality.

Julie Dillan, host of The Love, Food Podcast & MS, was quoted as saying, “I’ve never encountered a book about eating disorder recovery that was this FUN to read. There’s nothing else like it.”
