Sabije Dervishi Veseli’s The Divine Body is a thought-provoking short work that makes you think about the big questions in life in a truly original way. Starting with the restless soul of a fallen soldier, it then takes you on a journey of discovery through the events which followed. To learn more about what this all means and how it came together, take a look at a few words below from the writer who brought the book to life.
“My idea has always been that the body is more than what you see in front of you. There is of course the material body that we can all see, but there’s also the spiritual side of life that too many people seem to dismiss these days. I wanted to take a step back and start thinking about what it all means and went in search of an original way to study and think about these issues. I hope that in some small way this book allows people to do this, and the way in which it is condensed into a single small volume will open these issues up to a whole new audience.”
An intriguing approach to writing, so what do they want to happen next?
“Writing this book has allowed me to think about how the prophet Moses would have reflected on the events he experienced. From there I’ve been able to come to a new idea about how these types of events and phenomena impact my own life and the lives of the people I hold dear. I truly believe that if they can have this type of moving impact on me, then this is a book which will also open the eyes of many people from many other walks of life. If I can inspire just one person to think again, to rethink an experience or to share something with a loved one, I will know the time was well spent.”
And how about the future – is there another work on the horizon?
“I really just want to start a debate and get people thinking about all the different sides of life that it can be all too easy to ignore. Whether this takes the form of another volume, a more lengthy study, or just regular discourse on the subject, I’m keeping an open mind. In fact, an open mind is really what I would like people to take away from having read my book. Hopefully this will be the start of a debate on the true meaning that’s out there which everyone feels able to take some part in.”
